Stafford Bridge Doors invest in training to face challenge of recession
Monday, April 27th, 2009
Jim Russell, the Technical Director at Stafford Bridge Doors of Bedford, has lead his team in updating their business skills to meet the challenges set by today’s economic climate. Following a review of the business objectives and the staff training and development needs required for the company, Jim took the decision to embark on an NVQ programme through Dunstable College’s business training division, Chiltern Business Training. His goal was to enhance the skills and qualification base of his team and improve the overall efficiency of the company.
Jim took the lead and commenced his NVQ Level 3 in Management. He was joined by two members of his senior management team and his five supervisors commenced the NVQ Level 2 in Team Leadership. To ensure the productive work force were all operating to national standards, a further four staff commenced the NVQ in Performing Manufacturing Operations at Level 2.
Incredibly, all the staff kept the momentum going together as a team and as a result all successfully completed their NVQ programme.
Jim was delighted with the whole team and congratulated the college assessors/trainers Patrick Turley and Sharon Cazley for their outstanding support. He said, “The whole programme was run smoothly and efficiently, it was a very good learning experience and we all learned how to move forward as a team. Our overall communication and teamwork has greatly improved and despite the current economic climate we are now all very positive and optimistic about the future.”
Jim has now enrolled onto the OCN Learning Champion programme.
