Four GCSEs at grades A-G (Maths at Grade C is desirable) or a relevant Level 1 qualification at Merit level. A real interest in business and enterprise and the motivation to succeed are important. If you do not meet our requirement, please ask about our Level 1 programmes.
The Level 2 Diploma in Business is a nationally recognised qualification that will help you make progress in Business. This programme will equip you with the skills, knowledge, attitude and values required to work towards a successful career in Business and related subjects.
Who is the course suitable for?
If you want to keep your options open to either and apprenticeship or further study, then this course may suit you well. The course is suitable for anyone wanting to use their interest in business and enterprise in their work or further study.
You are going to be trained by experienced professionals who have knowledge in the fields you may be interested in. We have high professional standards and expectations of our learners.
This course prepares you with skills and knowledge in a variety of topics that will prepare you for the next level of education, Apprenticeship or a job in a business-related field. You will need to be prepared to attend college 4 days per week and attend a block of work experience (gaining a total of 100 hours of work experience).
Topics include marketing, finance, branding, selling, visual merchandising, consumer and employment law among many others .
Development of Maths and English
You will develop and use English and Mathematics throughout the course. Students who have not yet achieved at least a C grade in English and Maths will have to continue taking these subjects in order to gain qualifications in them.
Employability Skills Development
Your study programme includes 1 hour per week of employability skills development which includes Careers Education, support and guidance on progression opportunities.
How will the course be taught?
You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced lecturers who will use a wide variety of teaching methods to help you to learn and progress to the next level.
Lectures, discussions, independent research and practical tasks.
How will I know how well I am doing?
Every student has a personal tutor who will meet with their tutees on a regular basis to ensure they are making good progress. Tutors make sure that you receive regular feedback, manage your workload and meet college expectations.
Much of the assessment is through coursework assignments, but there are some examinations.
Are there any additional costs?
Coming to college is a full time commitment and you will need to ensure that you have factored in the cost of travelling to college and potentially to a local work placement. We do recommend a few good resources that you can choose to purchase if you wish. We may request contributions are made to trips and outings.
What course can I do next?
You can progress onto Level 3 courses, such as the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Business, or you may choose to specialise in a topic like Events Management or Accounting, for example. You may seek work or apprenticeship at junior level in companies that include business-related roles most organisations in the private and public sectors.

Fill in an application form and you will be invited for a presentation and interview with one of the tutors.
