Course Description

This qualification is designed to build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people from birth to 19 years. It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas and is spilt into two pathways:

•Social Care •Learning, Development and Support Services

Who is the course suitable for?

Anyone who works or wants to work at a supervisory level in the children and young people’s workforce.

Course content

Communication, Personal development, equality and inclusion, duty of csare, child and young person development, health and saferty, safeguard and well-being, positive outcomes and working togetehr for the benefit of the young person.

Development of Maths and English

If stduents hae not yet achieved level 2 in ENglish and Maths then we reccomend that these are taken along the vocayional qualificaiton

Employability Skills Development

Your programme includes 1 hour per week of employability skills development which includes Careers Education, support and guidance on progression opportunities.

How will the course be taught?

You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced Child Care professionals who will use a wide variety of teaching methods to help you to learn and progress to the next level. Lectures, discussions, independent research and practical tasks.

How will I know how well I am doing?

Every student has a personal tutor who will meet with their tutees on a regular basis to ensure they are making good progress. Tutors make sure that you receive regular feedback, manage your workload and meet college expectations.

Are there any additional costs?

Coming to college is a big commitment and you will need to ensure that you have factored in the cost of travelling to college and potentially to a local work placement. We do recommend a few good resources that you can choose to purchase if you wish. We may request contributions are made to trips and outings.

What course can I do next?

The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (90 credits) or a Foundation Degree

Fill in an application form online and you will be invited for a presentation and interview with one of the tutors.

Course Fees

If you are aged 19 or over on the 31st August of the year you begin your course or if you are actively seeking employment and can provide evidence that you’re in receipt of a state benefit e.g. job seekers, housing benefit – this course may be free!
