Course Description
What will I learn?
This qualifcation provides an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills required when working
directly with children or young people in primary, secondary or special schools.
It covers all aspects of Specialist Support including planning, delivering, and reviewing assessment
strategies to support learning alongside the teacher, bilingual and special needs support and personal
development and re?ective practice. It is also a must have for all those undertaking the Level 3 Supporting
Teaching and Learning Apprenticeship.
Who is the course suitable for?
This qualification is suitable for a range of learners, either working or wishing to work in schools,
education and care. It is also suitable for those wishing to progress to higher education.
Course content
This course prepares you with skills and knowledge in a variety of topics that will prepare you for the
next level of education or a job in Education. You will need to be prepared to work independently and meet
regularly with your assessor as a distance learner whilst committing to a minimum of two days in placement.

Development of Maths and English
This will be embedded throughout your course. It does of course link directly to the pupils/students that
you will be supporting.
Employability Skills Development
Again this is embedded throughout your programme and placement..
How will the course be taught?
You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced Child Care professionals who will use a wide variety
of teaching methods to help you to learn and progress to the next level.
Lectures, discussions, independent research and practical tasks.
How will I know how well I am doing?
Every student has a personal tutor who will meet with their tutees on a regular basis to ensure they are
making good progress. Tutors make sure that you receive regular feedback, manage your workload and meet
college expectations.
Are there any additional costs?
Completing a course is a full time commitment and you will need to ensure that you have factored in the
cost of travelling to work/placement. We do recommend a few good resources that you can choose to purchase
if you wish. We may request contributions are made to trips and outings.

How do I join the course?
Fill in an application form and you will be invited for a presentation and interview with one of the
tutors.
Course Fees
If you are aged 19 or over on the 31st August of the year you begin your course or if you are actively
seeking employment and can provide evidence that youre in receipt of a state benefit e.g. job seekers,
housing benefit- this course may be free!
