This is a wide scope media course that allows you to develop the creative, professional and analytical skills needed for creative media production. At both levels, you will be exposed to real clients and live competition briefs.
Who is the course suitable for?
If you seek a career in creative media then this course will offer you the widest options of skill development for a successful foundation for your future.
At level 4 you will be introduced to the practical skills needed for moving image production as well as developing editing techniques in response to creative problems and situations. Specific units studied include Promotional Video Production, Advertising for Television, Music Video Production and Fiction Film Production. All of the units are underpinned by continual professional, contextual and analytical development.
At level 5 you will improve on the skills learnt in the previous year and undertake specific units in producing, directing, screenwriting, photojournalism and documentary film-making. These will be supported by a dedicated work experience unit as well as a specific subject investigation designed by you.
How will the course be taught?
Practical workshops, lectures and seminars will be supported by ongoing tutorials with specialist technicians and tutors. However, the course is very focused on individual need and direction and you will have a great deal of input into the method of learning you prefer with a tutorial-based approach to the subject matter in most cases.

The course is 100% coursework assessed through a series of assignments with ongoing assessments throughout the year. The assessments have a professional and realistic context with a focus on a client or live competition briefs.
Are there any additional costs?
There are very few additional course costs for learners beyond the fee. You will need basic stationery, and a good USB stick and a scientific calculator are useful. We have an excellent library and good IT facilities at college, so if you don't have access to the internet at home, you can complete your work in college or at the University.
There are several trips throughout the academic year will undertake several trips that will benefit your learning experience. These include guest speakers, industry days, trade fairs, screenings and an overseas residential trip.
