This quali?cation develops the knowledge and skills needed when working in a senior role with adults in health and social care environments. It covers a wide range of areas including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health care procedures.
It has three pathways:
Generic Health and Social Care Dementia Learning Disability
Some of the units may include: Purpose and principles of independent advocacy Understand mental wellbeing and mental health promotion Understand mental health problems Understand the process and experience of dementia Understand the administration of medication to individuals with dementia using a person-centred approach Understand the role of communication and interactions with individuals who have dementia Understand the diversity of individuals with dementia and the importance of inclusion Understand theories of relationships and social networks Introduction to personalisation in social care The principles of infection prevention and control Causes and spread of infection Cleaning, decontamination and waste management Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities Principles of supporting an individual to maintain personal hygiene
Development of Maths and English
If stduents hae not yet achieved level 2 in ENglish and Maths then we reccomend that these are taken along the vocayional qualificaiton
Employability Skills Development
Your programme includes 1 hour per week of employability skills development which includes Careers Education, support and guidance on progression opportunities.
How will the course be taught?
You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced Child Care professionals who will use a wide variety of teaching methods to help you to learn and progress to the next level. Lectures, discussions, independent research and practical tasks.
How will I know how well I am doing?
Every student has a personal tutor who will meet with their tutees on a regular basis to ensure they are making good progress. Tutors make sure that you receive regular feedback, manage your workload and meet college expectations.
Are there any additional costs?
Coming to college is a big commitment and you will need to ensure that you have factored in the cost of travelling to college and potentially to a local work placement. We do recommend a few good resources that you can choose to purchase if you wish. We may request contributions are made to trips and outings.
What course can I do next?
On completion learners can progress to a wide range of job roles depending on the pathway taken.
