Course Description

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing is a job ready qualification based on National Occupational Standards (NOS). This qualification will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as an advanced hairdresser.

Who is the course suitable for?

If you have completed levels 1 and 2 in hairdressing and have a job in a salon but are keen to progress to the advanced level of hairdressing then this is the right course for you.

Course content

This qualification is designed for learners aged 18 years or over. This course builds upon prior knowledge gained from level 1 and 2 hairdressing.

Creatively style and dress hair, creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques, creatively colour and lighten hair, provide client consultation services. Colour correction services

Development of Maths and English

Students who have not yet achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and Maths will have to continue taking these subjects up to the age of 18, as per government requirements. At Central Bedfordshire College Students who have a D/3 in GCSE Maths and English will be required to retake these GCSE subjects in order to obtain at least a C/4 grade at GCSE level.

Employability Skills Development

You will be provided with information on the latest trends and developments in the industry. And employability skills will be embedded within the course while working within a realistic working environment.

How will the course be taught?

You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced hairdressing professionals who will use a wide variety of teaching methods to help you to learn and progress to the next level. Lectures, discussions, independent research, practical assessments, assignments and exams.You will be expected to gather evidence of both the practical skills and underpinning knowledge for each unit you study and create a ‘portfolio of evidence’ for the qualification.

How will I know how well I am doing?

Every student has a personal tutor who will meet with their learners on a regular basis to ensure they are making good progress. Tutors make sure that you receive regular feedback, manage your workload and meet college expectations.
