- Entry 3 Diploma or relevant experience
- Two GCSEs at Grade D or above in English and Maths or equivalent
The course is designed to engage & motivate learners who are interested in learning about the automotive retail industry.
The qualification is a pathway to Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance.
Who is the course suitable for?
If exams are not your preferred method of study then this course may be right for you.
This course is for learners 16 plus who prefer and respond to hands on learning. The structure has a practical approach to assessment and includes many visual questioning techniques which will stimulate and interest learners.
This course should not be viewed as an easier alternative because you are going to be trained by experienced professionals who have knowledge in the fields you may be interested in. We have high professional standards and expectations of our learners
This course prepares you with skills and knowledge in a variety of topics that will prepare you for the next level of education or a job in the Automotive field. You will need to be prepared to attend 2 college days per week.

Development of Maths and English
Students who have not yet achieved at least a C grade in English and Maths will have to continue taking these subjects up to the age of 18, as per government requirements.
At Central Bedfordshire College Students who have a D in GCSE Maths and English will be required to retake these GCSE subjects in order to obtain at least a C grade at GCSE level.
Employability Skills Development
Your study programme includes 1 hour per week of employability skills development which includes Careers Education, support and guidance on progression opportunities.
How will the course be taught?
You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced Automotive Technician who will use a wide variety of teaching methods to help you to learn and progress to the next level.
Lectures, discussions, independent research and practical tasks.
How will I know how well I am doing?
Every student has a personal tutor who will meet with their tutees on a regular basis to ensure they are making good progress. Tutors make sure that you receive regular feedback, manage your workload and meet college expectations.
Are there any additional costs?
Coming to college is a full time commitment and you will need to ensure that you have factored in the cost of travelling to college and potentially to a local work placement. We do recommend a few good resources that you can choose to purchase if you wish. We may request contributions are made to trips and outings.

How do I join the course?
Fill in an application form and you will be invited for a presentation and interview with one of the tutors.
If you are aged 19 or over on the 31st August of the year you begin your course or if you are actively seeking employment and can provide evidence that youre in receipt of a state benefit e.g. job seekers, housing benefit- this course may be free!
