You must also have 4 GCSEs at grade A*- C/9- 4 inclusive of English and maths or a level 2 Public Services qualification at Merit or above, you should also have a keen interest in the disciplined services.
Demand for Public Services in the UK remains high. Public Services, provided by Government such as law enforcement, health, defence and central and local Government remain in demand and will continue to have a vital role in the economic and social welfare of the nation.The main purpose is to allow learners to develop the core specialist knowledge, understanding and skills, including Government policies, and leadership and teamwork, required by the sector.
Who is the course suitable for?
This qualification is for learners who would like to gain employment in the public services sector and have been developed to provide further training and education and progression opportunities within this sector. This course is suitable for learners who meet the entry requirements and who would like to know more about employment in uniformed or non-uniformed public services.
You will study the three mandatory core units; Government, Policies and the Public Services, Leadership and Teamwork in the Public Services, Citizenship, Diversity and the Public Services plus several specialist units.This course includes fitness testing and training and physical activity is a compulsory element of the course.
Development of Maths and English
Students who have not yet achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and Maths will have to continue taking these subjects up to the age of 18, as per government requirements. At Central Bedfordshire College Students who have a D/3 in GCSE Maths and English will be required to retake these GCSE subjects in order to obtain at least a C/4 grade at GCSE level
Employability Skills Development
All students willbe required to undertake work related experience either as a placement or attendance on trips and guest speaker slots.
How will the course be taught?
You will be taught by highly experienced tutors, lessons will include theory, case studies and physical activities and tasks.
How will I know how well I am doing?
You will be assessed in a variety of ways, including written assignments, practical assessment and presentations. The course will be delivered through a mixture of workshops, taught sessions, lectures and independent learning. You will also receive a range of on-going feedback, these include regular 1-1 feedback sessions to assess the work, and determine a route personal to you, that will aid development.
