The course is aimed at Level 2 and a good level of English and IT literacy skills are essential as much of the learning material is accessed through the Cisco Portal using a Blended Learning format.
The Cisco Academy provides industry standard professional qualifications that are valued globally. Cisco IT Essentials is an entry level qualification for ICT Technicians and it will provide a good understanding of key skills needed in the IT Support sector.
The course runs over 15 weeks and costs £220 and it is expected that students will complete the necessary reading each week.
Who is the course suitable for?
This course is suitable for all learners and will provide a good platform for starting a career as an IT Professional but IT Essentials is aimed at those looking to work in a support role.
This course prepares you with skills and knowledge in a variety of topics that will prepare you for the next level of education or a job in an IT Support role. The 12 modules you will study are: Introduction to a Personal Computer Lab Procedure and Tool Use Computer Assembly Overview of Preventive Maintenance Operating Systems Networks Laptops Mobile Devices Printers Security The IT Professional Advanced Troubleshooting The assessment for the programme includes a range of activities including online assessment and practical tasks to demonstrate competency.

Employability Skills Development
You will develop an awareness of the employability skills needed to work in the IT Support sector.
How will the course be taught?
You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced IT professionals who will use a wide variety of teaching methods to help you to learn and progress to the next level. Lectures, discussions, independent research and practical tasks supplemented with the Cisco Online resources.
How will I know how well I am doing?
The Online Management system tracks progress through the course in the Gradebook module available through the Cisco Portal. You will have regular feedback from the Cisco Instructor regarding your progress and what you need to do to succeed in your studies.
Are there any additional costs?
All tools and equipment needed to complete the course are supplied by the College although it is not uncommon for students to purchase their own tool kits, the tutor is happy to offer advice for students on selecting suitable resources.

Fill in the Online Application Form and you will be invited for a presentation and interview with one of the tutors.
Cisco IT Essentials is a full-cost programme, and the course fees include the cost of the final exam which will be taken at the College. The fee is set at £220 per 15 week block.
