The course is aimed at Level 3 and a good level of English and IT literacy skills are essential as much of the learning material is accessed through the Cisco Portal using a Blended Learning format. A prior knowledge of computing and networking is advantageous.
The Cisco Academy provides industry standard professional qualifications that are valued globally. Cisco CCNA is an entry level qualification for ICT Technicians and it will provide a good understanding of key skills needed in the Networking sector.
CCNA Routing and Switching provides a comprehensive overview of networking concepts and skills, from network applications to the protocols and services provided to those applications by the lower layers of the network, with an emphasis on practical application, work-force readiness, and soft-skills development.
The course runs over 15 weeks and costs £400 and it is expected that students will complete the necessary reading each week. The progress made is dependent on prior knowledge and time allocated to study. The course material is available at all times through the Cisco Academy.

This course is suitable for all learners and will provide a good platform for starting a career as an IT Professional. Those with industrial experience can expect to progress at a faster pace.
This course prepares you with skills and knowledge in a variety of topics that will prepare you for the next level of education or a job in the Network industry. The course is broken into four areas: Introduction to Networks Introduces the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the Internet and computer networks, IP addressing and fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations. Routing and Switching Essentials Describes the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in a small network. Scaling Networks - Describes the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in a large and complex network. Connecting Networks - Discusses the WAN technologies and network services required by converged applications in a complex network. The assessment for the programme includes a range of activities including online assessment and practical exams to demonstrate competency.

How will the course be taught?
You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced IT professionals who will use a wide variety of teaching methods to help you to learn and progress to the next level. Lectures, discussions, independent research and practical tasks supplemented with the Cisco Online resources.
How will I know how well I am doing?
The Online Management system tracks progress through the course in the Gradebook module available through the Cisco Portal. You will have regular feedback from the Cisco Instructor regarding your progress and what you need to do to succeed in your studies.
Are there any additional costs?
It is recommended that the students purchase the associative text book. The student will need to complete an online exam at a recognised examination centre to obtain the full CCNA qualification.. The exam is discounted for Cisco Academy students.

Fill in the Online Application Form and you will be invited for a presentation and interview with one of the tutors.
Cisco CCNA is a full-cost programme, and the course fees include the cost of the final exam which will be taken at the College. Please note the £400 fee charged is for each 15 week block.
