Raising money for the Poppy Appeal

Students and staff are hosting various activities to raise money for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Creative Arts students

Creative Arts students will be hosting an exhibition inspired by Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, at The Store to mark the First World War centenary. Students will design a poppy, the sale of which will go to the The Royal British Legion.  To buy a Poppy you can visit The Store between 6th - 12th November.  This is open to the public as well as students and staff.

Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red

An art installation featuring 888,246 ceramic poppies - one for every British and Commonwealth soldier who died during the conflict – has been laid in the moat of the Tower of London throughout the summer not just by the creator Paul Cummins, but also by volunteers.
The last flower will be planted on November 11, marking the date that World War One hostilities ended in 1918.

The installation, called Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, is just one of the events taking place to mark the First World War centenary. This has inspired the students who were given a quick project to design a poppy each, the sale of which will go to The Royal British Legion which helps the whole Armed Forces community through welfare, comradeship and representation, as well as being the Nation's custodian of Remembrance.

Pathways students

Pathways students will be raising funds from Tuesday 4th – Friday 7th November by selling Poppy inspired products that have been made by students across the Pathways courses. They also plan to create a "Wall of Remembrance" by selling personalised laminated poppies. These products will be on sale to students, staff and visitors only.

Please help the students to raise valuable funds for this worthy cause.
