Media student, Edd Hawkes, has created a short film on the benefits of walking for health reasons for Central Bedfordshire's Travel Choices. Edd made the film as part of his HNC course in Creative Media Production at the college.
The HNC Creative Media Production course enables students to gain valuable practical skills in video production, visual editing and research skills for media production. For this project students were tasked with making a film for a client and Edd approached Travel Choices.
"I knew Travel Choices through the bike recycling project where I took part in the workshops and also took photographs." explains Edd.
Travel Choices briefed Edd to make a film about their regular health walks with testimony from those who take part, as well as footage from walks at Dunstable Downs, Houghton Hall Park and Dunstable town centre.
Edd, who as well as being a film student is a champion uni-cyclist, worked to a tight deadline to produce the film which can now be viewed on Central Bedfordshire Council's You Tube channel.
Cllr Nigel Young, Executive Member for Strategic Planning and Economic Development said:
"The skills of our young people are vital to the growth of our future economy so it's encouraging that Travel Choice was able to give Edd this opportunity. The final result really encapsulates the inclusive, can-do feel of the Travel Choices project. I hope he remembers us when he picks up his first Oscar!"
