Local Businesses Support Aspiring Hairdressers

Local businesses have been in full support of two groups of Level 3 Hairdressing Students at Dunstable College who have organised successful hair styling competitions for their peers.

The Level 3 Hairdressing Course at the college is run as either daytime or evening mode, and both teams have recently been working hard to organise every aspect of their events from budgeting, promotions, prizes and even guest judges.

Local businesses including by Artizan, Creations, Tizz, Tranquility, Eclat, Allure, Steve Hilliard and L&N Supplies all got behind the students to donate prizes for the events. Babs from the Heart 97.6 Breakfast Show even came along to judge the daytime competition which was Moulin Rouge themed for Level 1 and Eighties themed for Level 2 students.

Evening student, Karen Laver, said of their event, “We organised a Mardi Gras themed Hair Competition for the Level 1 & 2 evening students. We also arranged a raffle and donated the money raised to a local charity. Gary Lee – Head of Leisure & Service Industries at Dunstable College, Lindsey White – Curriculum Manager for Hairdressing at Dunstable College, Paul Hassall – Level 3 Tutor and Luigi – Salon Manager for Artizan in Dunstable kindly judged the entries and thanks also to photographer Jo Solley who documented the event.”
