A new learning experience
The Houghton Learning Hub supports young people with EHCPs, those disaffected with education, those that are NEET, with a disability/learning difficulty or with mental health challenges.
At Houghton Learning Hub we provide post 16 students the opportunity to continue their learning and development journey. We offer person-centred learning through full time study programmes tailored to their areas of interest. Learning takes place in small groups with high levels of support, and aims to develop confidence and skills for learning. We provide an environment for students to re-engage with education and be successful in their studies. All students follow a core vocational curriculum focusing on essential knowledge and skills including maths and English, personal and social development, employability and life skills.
When you first start at Houghton Learning Hub you will undergo a period of induction whilst we assess your needs and prepare an appropriate tailored programme of support. This includes putting together a personalised timetable which will ensure you can make the progress needed to succeed. The aim will be for you to progress into other further education courses, traineeships, supported internships or employment. We also work closely with you and your family to ensure we all set aspirational academic targets in order to gain the necessary accreditation required for your next steps.
The main aim of all our programmes is to enable students to enjoy learning and be best prepared for their successful move into the world of training, further education or work-related learning.
We can’t promise it will be easy – we expect a lot from our learners – but we can promise you’ll get a lot back.
