I chose CBC because the courses sounded good and the college had better ratings than other colleges in the area.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT AT CBC?

When I got my certificate. The look on my tutor’s face… she was so proud of me; I actually did it!

HOW ABOUT THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU’VE FACED?

When I first came here from Nigeria I was very shy; I had no self-esteem at all. I felt like I couldn’t open up to anyone that I wasn’t settling in as well as I thought I would. But with time and support, my confidence grew.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE A DAY AT CBC?

Sometimes it can be a bit busy but it is always fun – there are lots of opportunities to meet new people and gain confidence.

IF YOU COULD GO BACK AND GIVE YOURSELF SOME ADVICE WHEN YOU STARTED AT CBC, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Be open to new ideas. When I started it was a big change for me from the culture and background I’d known so I would tell myself to be more open-minded.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU?

I’m starting university – I’m nervous but excited! Then I want to be a social worker. I want to help people and work with different groups, ages and backgrounds.
