This course will prepare you to work with a range of animals and explore key skills required in a range of animal care settings. The course will give you the basic knowledge for a range of level two animal studies topics, should you decide to progress, on completion of this course.

• English & Maths: For all students who have not achieved a grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths or English, you will be required to restudy and sit these exams again throughout your time with us, alongside your vocational course.
• Personal Professional Development sessions (PPD) will teach you valuable skills that employers are looking for including communication, time management and life skills that you can take with you anywhere you go!
• You will have a regular 1:1 appointment with highly qualified and experienced professionals who will help you to manage your workload, give you valuable feedback and ensure that you meet College expectations.
• Careers Advice & Guidance is available throughout your time at CBC from our friendly, dedicated Advisors. They can provide you with a wide range of support including CV writing, UCAS applications, interview skills and much more.

How will I learn?

You will learn through a variety of different methods including practical work during your course to develop your skills. Your areas of study will include:

• Caring for and Feeding Animals
• Moving and Accommodating Animals
• Event management
• Product designing for animal

How will I be assessed?

Assignment based, NO end of year exam. Your assessments throughout this course will keep you on track to achieve; these could include observations in your work placement, assignment tasks and a portfolio of evidence to support your learning

Equipment and other costs

For your work experience, you will require to purchase a pair of overalls and steel-capped boots or wellington boots.

What additional work outside of college will I need to do?

3 days per week, you will attend our Dunstable campus. In addition, you will also be required to complete a set number of work experience hours throughout your course. Other trips may be made available.

Do I need to find a work placement? Do I need a DBS?

Not Applicable. We will provide you with work placement and arrange transport there and back.

Upon completing your course, you have a great range of options available to help you continue your adventure. You may choose to continue your studies in college and progress onto a level 2 course such as the Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care. There is a range of employment options available to you following this course.
