If you dream of embarking on a fulfilling career and love working with children and young people, a Childcare course is an excellent place to start. This course is perfect for learners aged 16 upwards that are looking to develop both parenting and life skills, and is a great starting point for those with additional learning support requirements or where English is an additional language.
This course will help to develop the skills and knowledge you need to care for a child and encompasses a holistic approach to childcare including lifestyle, diet and play.
You will learn through a variety of different methods including practical work during your course to develop your skills.
Your areas of study will include: Building confidence in children Healthy diet and lifestyle Communication and learning styles Aspects of play in child development
The range of units will enable you to develop a brilliant base of knowledge to help you progress to further training and to develop your skills whilst in the world of work.
Your Tutor will be on hand to support you throughout your course to develop your skills, prepare you for your next steps and help you to achieve your goals.

Personal Professional Development sessions (PPD) will teach you valuable skills that employers are looking for including communication, time management and life skills that you can take with you anywhere you go!
You will have a regular 1:1 appointment with highly qualified and experienced Childcare professionals who will help you to manage your workload, give you valuable feedback and ensure that you meet College expectations.
English & Maths: You may not be sure whether these subjects are relevant to you, but good English and Maths skills will be vital to any career path and were here to support you in developing yours.
Work Experience is crucial to preparing you for your next steps and here you will have access to a wide range of employers to make sure you gain plenty of workplace experience. Careers Advice & Guidance is available throughout your time at CBC from our friendly, dedicated Advisors. They can provide you with a wide range of support including CV writing, UCAS applications, interview skills and much more.
What options are there after completing this course?
Upon completing your course, you have a great range of options available to help you continue your adventure. You may choose to continue your studies in College and progress onto a Level 2 course such as the CACHE Intro to Early Years Education & Care Level 2 Certificate. If you do choose to continue on to the next level which is a Level 3 qualification, you will be able to progress to University if you wish. A Level 3 Qualification is the equivalent to 3 A Levels.
