Is this course right for me?
The level 1 is designed to provide those with an interest in art, design and media to explore methods and process that support many different art, design and media pathways, and to begin to develop related skills. The structure provides a linked introduction to broader contexts and will provide the students with an early test of their commitment and interest in the subject with the aim of progressing them into level 2 and higher.
Course Overview
We aim to provide a focused exploration of skills, knowledge and understanding to explore, develop and test creativity. The assignments and tasks will provide a base of skills and knowledge to enhance self-confidence within a college environment and impart an understanding of the career demands and opportunities within art, design and media.
The qualification introduces the students to the material and processes used, develop contextual awareness of the subject, different communication methods and explore different creative problems. Units 1, 2 and 3 will be delivered as introductionary units throughout the year building and developing skills before lending those skills to specialised units in 2D, 3D and time based problems. Unit 7 is the students final major project and is designed to showcase any and all skills developed throughout the year.
Motion Graphic Design - a subset of graphic design, uses the principles of graphic design in a film, video context, or other temporary visually moving medium. Think of title sequences, music videos, TV channel branding, film trailers and advertisements; all are motion graphics.
You will be encouraged to become a creative problem solver.
Your areas of study will include: Composition, layout and logo design Corporate identity and branding Contextual research Packaging and publication design Motion graphics Live client briefs and industry projects Skills development in essential industry programmes including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Dreamweaver and After Effects Your assessments throughout this course will keep you on track to achieve; these could include group projects, assignment tasks and a portfolio of work to support your learning.

What options are there after completing this course?
Upon completing your course, you have a great range of options available to help you continue your adventure. You may choose to continue your studies and apply for University, your Level 3 course is the equivalent of 3 A Levels so you would be well placed to do this. There are a range of employment options available to you following this course including apprenticeships or employment in junior roles including Junior Designer and Junior Artworker.
