This qualification covers a range of key subject areas in health and social care and will give you the opportunity to gain the practical skills and understanding you need to succeed in the sector. You will also undertake work placements to ensure you achieve maximum employability during your time on the course.
How will I learn?
Your assessments throughout this course will keep you on track to achieve. Your Tutor will be on hand to support you throughout your course to develop your skills, prepare you for your next steps and help you to achieve your goals.
How will I be assessed?
The course will be assessed by your Tutor or Assessor using a range of methods. This could include tasks such as designing charts or leaflets, observations, assignment tasks and a portfolio of evidence to support your learning.

What additional work outside of college will I need to do?
You will be required to attend placement in a real work environment.
Do I need to find a work placement? Do I need a DBS?
You will be required to find a work placement in a health, social care or childcare setting and a DBS will be required.
What have students who have taken this course in the past progressed onto?
You may choose to continue your studies in College and progress onto the Level 3 course in Health and Social Care or an Apprenticeship. If you do choose to continue and complete the Extended Diploma, you may be able to progress to University.
What are the expected employment sectors for this course?
This qualification does not provide a licence to practise, but may support progression into a range of job roles in the health and social care sector, including:
care support workers in adult residential settings healthcare assistants in community, primary care and acute health environments care support workers in domiciliary services, supported living or day services community-based support workers.
