If you are eager to start a rewarding career making a real difference to people’s lives, a Health & Social Care course could be perfect for you. You’ll gain the practical skills and understanding you need to succeed in the sector and undertake work placements to ensure you achieve maximum employability during your time on the course.

Course Overview

This qualification develops the knowledge and skills needed when working in a senior role with adults in health and social care environments. It covers a wide range of areas including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and health care procedures.

You will learn through a variety of different methods including practical work experience during your course to develop your skills. This course has three available pathways for you to specialise in, including Generic Health and Social Care, Dementia and Learning Disability.

Your areas of study could include: • Purpose and principles of independent advocacy • Understand mental wellbeing and mental health promotion • Understand mental health problems • Understand the process and experience of dementia • Understand the administration of medication to individuals with dementia using a person-centred approach • Understand the role of communication and interactions with individuals who have dementia • Understand the diversity of individuals with dementia and the importance of inclusion • Understand theories of relationships and social networks Introduction to personalisation in social care • The principles of infection prevention and control, including th causes and spread of infection • Cleaning, decontamination and waste management • Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities • Principles of supporting an individual to maintain personal hygiene

Your assessments throughout this course will keep you on track to achieve; these could include observations by your peers, assignment tasks and a portfolio of evidence to support your learning. Your Tutor will be on hand to support you throughout your course to develop your skills, prepare you for your next steps and help you to achieve your goals.

• Work Experience is crucial to preparing you for your next steps and here you will have access to a wide range of employers to make sure you gain plenty of workplace experience. • Careers Advice & Guidance is available throughout your time at CBC from our friendly, dedicated Advisors. They can provide you with a wide range of support including CV writing, UCAS applications, interview skills and much more.

What options are there after completing this course?

Upon completing your course, you have a great range of options available to help you continue your adventure. • Following this course you will be able to progress to University or a Level 4 qualification if you wish.
