Course Overview

The VTCT Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing is aimed at 16-18 learners/ Mature learners who wish to pursue a career as an employed and/or self-employed junior hairdresser/stylist.

Who is the course suitable for?

Suitable for learners who have completed level 1 hairdressing or someone who has had some salon experience.

Course content

This course builds upon prior knowledge gained from level 1 hairdressing. The units covered are - style and finish hair, set and dress hair, cut hair using basic techniques, colour and lighten hair, advise and consult with clients, shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp, develop and maintain your effectiveness at work. Cut men's hair, Reception duties

Development of Maths and English

Students who have not yet achieved at least a grade C/4 in English and Maths will have to continue taking these subjects up to the age of 18, as per government requirements. At Central Bedfordshire College Students who have a D/3 in GCSE Maths and English will be required to retake these GCSE subjects in order to obtain at least a C/4 grade at GCSE level.

Employability Skills Development

All students will be required to attend work experience employability skills will be embedded in all your lessons through working in a realistic working environment

Every student has a personal tutor who will meet with their tutees on a regular basis to ensure they are making good progress throughout their time at college. Tutors make sure that you receive regular feedback on assessment and coursework, manage your workload and meet college expectations.
