You’ll gain the practical skills and understanding you need to succeed in the sector and undertake work placements to ensure you achieve maximum employability during your time on the course.

Course Overview

This course will allow you to gain a variety of opportunities to make a positive difference to people?s lives. This course is designed to equip you with essential skills for starting work in care professions and prepares you to progress onto further study. This is a vocational or work-related qualification which allows you to have an opportunity to gain skills, values and knowledge relevant to health and social care.

You will learn through a variety of different methods including practical work experience during your course to develop your skills. This course will require you to attend college 4 days per week, and spend 1 day per in a relevent work placement in order for you to gain the necessary 100 hours of work experience.

Your areas of study could include: • Communication in Health and Social Care • Individual Rights in Health and Social Care • Individual Needs in Health and Social Care • Ensuring Safe Environments in Health and Social Care • The Impact of Diet on Health • Creative and Therapeutic Activities in Health and Social Care • Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care • Vocational Experience in a Health or Social Care Setting • Health and Social Care Services • Work Placement is a minimum of 60 hours.

Your assessments throughout this course will keep you on track to achieve; these could include observations by your peers, assignment tasks and a portfolio of evidence to support your learning. Your Tutor will be on hand to support you throughout your course to develop your skills, prepare you for your next steps and help you to achieve your goals.

Your Study Programme includes valuable additions to help you succeed! • Personal Professional Development sessions (PPD) will teach you valuable skills that employers are looking for including communication, time management and life skills that you can take with you anywhere you go! • You will have a regular 1:1 appointment with highly qualified and experienced professionals who will help you to manage your workload, give you valuable feedback and ensure that you meet College expectations. • English & Maths: You may not be sure whether these subjects are relevant to you, but good English and Maths skills will be vital to any career path and we're here to support you in developing yours.
• Work Experience is crucial to preparing you for your next steps and here you will have access to a wide range of employers to make sure you gain plenty of workplace experience. • Careers Advice & Guidance is available throughout your time at CBC from our friendly, dedicated Advisors. They can provide you with a wide range of support including CV writing, UCAS applications, interview skills and much more.

What options are there after completing this course?

Upon completing your course, you have a great range of options available to help you continue your adventure. Achieving your level 2 in health and social care can make you eligible to apply for an intermediate apprenticeship that allows you to have a job in the health and social care sector, earn a wage and get a qualification at the same time. • You may choose to continue your studies in College and progress onto the Level 3 course in Health and Social Care or an Apprenticeship. • If you do choose to continue and complete the Extended Diploma, you will be able to progress to University or a Level 4 qualification if you wish. A full Level 3 Qualification is the equivalent to 3 A Levels. • Your qualification can provide you with excellent skills and help you to find employment in roles including Care Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant and Community based support roles. • Want to know more?
