You’ll gain the practical skills and understanding you need to succeed in the sector and undertake work placements to ensure you achieve maximum employability during your time on the course.

Course Overview

This course will enable you to study and develop valuable occupational skills during 1 year, and provides you with the equivalent of 1.5 A Levels. There is the option to carry on into the second year of this qualification in order to gain a Level 3 Extended Diploma which will amount to 3 whole A Levels.

You will learn through a variety of different methods including practical work experience during your course to develop your skills. This course will require you to attend college 4 days per week, and spend 1 day per in a relevent work placement in order for you to gain the necessary 100 hours of work experience.

Your areas of study could include: • Equality, diversity and rights in Health and Social Care • Developing effective communication in Health and Social Care • Public and environmental health • Microbiology and communicable diseases • Anatomy, physiology and advanced physiology • Diseases and disorders • Psychological and sociological aspects of health

Your assessments throughout this course will keep you on track to achieve; these could include observations by your peers, assignment tasks and a portfolio of evidence to support your learning. Your Tutor will be on hand to support you throughout your course to develop your skills, prepare you for your next steps and help you to achieve your goals.

What options are there after completing this course?

Upon completing your course, you have a great range of options available to help you continue your adventure. • You may choose to continue your studies in College and progress onto the Extended Diploma Level 3 course in Health and Social Care. • If you do choose to continue and complete the Extended Diploma, you will be able to progress to University or a Level 4 qualification if you wish. A full Level 3 Qualification is the equivalent to 3 A Levels. • Your qualification can provide you with excellent skills and help you to find employment in roles including Care Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant and Community based support roles. • Want to know more?
