Our BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma is a modern, work-related qualification that has defined progression routes into higher education and/or employment. It helps you to develop high-level skills employers and universities look for; such as teamwork, creative thinking and presentation skills.
This qualification gives you the right blend of technical and academic skills in order to become the highly skilled, work-ready individuals employers and universities look for.
This is a 2-year course and is equivalent to 3 A Levels
WHAT OPTIONS ARE THERE AFTER COMPLETING THIS COURSE?
You can progress to:
- BSc (Hons) in Computer Science
- HNC in Computing and Systems Development
- Work in the Computing and Information Technology sector
- an Industry Training Programme or a Digital Apprenticeship
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Teaching strategies include group work, quizzes, practical work, written assessments, case studies, presentations, etc. offering you the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding.
In the first year you will study units such as: Principles of Computer Science, Fundamentals of Computer Systems, IT Systems Security and Encryption, Computer Games Development, and Website Development.
On successful completion of your first year, you will have the opportunity to continue your studies and move into the second year to study additional units and achieve your qualification.
When completed, you will achieve a Level 3 Pearson BTEC National Extended Diploma in Computing, and any other qualifications studied. You could compete after 1 year gaining a BTEC Foundation Diploma in Computing.
ASSESSMENT
This course takes a unit-by-unit approach and offers a combination of assessment styles. It includes internally assessed assignments, externally assessed tasks, and externally assessed written exams. This gives you the opportunity to showcase your skills and apply your knowledge in an appropriate, work-related context.
