Pre-Entry Level English Language for the Workplace (Beginners)

An introduction to English language learning

This language programme focuses on the following key areas for developing English Language Skills for the Workplace:

• Sounds of the alphabet • The alphabet in both upper and lower case • Key word vocabulary development • Spelling and spelling rules • Simple punctuation • Nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs • Regular verb structures • The simple tenses (Past/Present/Future) • Pronunciation and speaking • Development of understanding through simple reading • Setting up student email account • Introduction to college language learning support facilities • Introduction to Microsoft Teams • Preparation for Functional Skills Programmes

The course seeks to establish a broad foundation from which students can confidently develop their English Language Skills, qualify for Functional Skills programmes, and gain maximum benefit from understanding the basic rules and conventions in English.
