Is this course right for me?
This course designed for learners who have completed their full-time courses at college but still need to work on their communication and confidence through practical activities. This programme helps students with SEND develop skills for life and work.
If learners need support to access college they need to provide their own PA to attend classes and support them throughout their college day.
Course Overview
The learners will be taught by a Pathways Tutor and will work on their communication, interaction and independent living skills. Learners will take part in some cookery sessions where they plan, buy and cook a meal together in our independent living flat. They can take part in some creative projects within our garden and take part in some sessions which focus on their own health and wellbeing. Progress will be monitored and recorded using RARPA processes
Learners will need a bus pass or money for bus fares and money to buy ingredients when they are cooking a meal.
Classes run on Thursdays from 9 until 4 pm with an hour for lunch.
What options are there after completing this course?
We will work closely with the learners and their circle of support, to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to progress onto another part time course within the college or access other agencies. Learners may choose to use their newly learnt skills at home, in a job or to take part in activities within the local community.
