Will the course give me what I want?
This course is perfect for those young people wishing to pursue a career in Teaching or Coaching. It will also allow you to progress into the second year, which from here you will be able to progress to University.
Course content
Over the year, you will study nine different units, each one has been specifically selected and designed to allow you to achieve the above. You will have multiple coaching units and you will get to work with different age groups in local schools, delivering National Curriculum PE lessons, work with children and young adults with disabilities and as well with your peers. We also work very closely with the local Sports Game Coordinators delivering, organising school tournaments around the local area. Two students in the last two years have gained full time employment from doing this. This is the perfect opportunity to apply theory into practise. Other units covered will include things such as Analysis of Performance using the same technology used in professional sports, called Hudl https://www.hudl.com/en_gb/ We will also help you prepare for work with CV workshops, interview practise and much more.
Location
You will work across two sites, which will give you the best of both worlds. You will be on the main campus which will allow you to have the real college experience. You will also spend time at Creasy Park where your practical and theory learning will take place.
How will I learn?
You are taught by industry specialists, which is what make us stand out from the rest. All staff that teach you come from an experienced professional background which means you will achieve optimal learning by receiving the most up to date information. Lessons will be a mixture of practical and theory linking together, for instance, when you learn about differentiation in sports coaching, we will put this into practice on the field before delivering in a real environment.
How will I be assessed?
The majority of assessments are done via assignments, video recordings, written observations, Hudl analysis, presentations and practically.
Equipment and other costs
The only costs you will have will be to purchase your sports kits, there are different packages available. This is to be worn in practical lessons and trips only. Follow this link to the online shop
What additional work outside of college will I need to do?
You will be required to do additional work from home, especially if you are looking to achieve the higher grades, which is what we will be working towards with you. We will support you with this and help you to plan out schedules that allow you plenty of time to have a good balance between your education and your personal life which we value.
