Is this course right for me?
If you have completed a Level 3 first year, then yes, this is the right course for you. You cannot enter directly on to the second year of the public services qualification without having first completed a Level 3 first year, either at CBC or somewhere else. If you have completed a first year at another institution then please make us aware of this at interview, and bring a list of the units that you studied in your first year.
Course Overview
You will be able to learn in a fun and interactive environment with a tutor that is experienced in teaching a range of public services courses. You will learn through a variety of different methods including practicals, interactive sessions, videos, presentations, lectures, group work and self evaluations.
Your areas of study could include: Crime and its Effects Police Powers Aspects of the Legal System Responding to Emergency Incidents The Impact of War and Terrorism Command and Control Discipline Environmental Policies Custodial Care Security Procedures Communication and Technology Current and Media Affairs Extended Research Exercise, Health and Lifestyle
Your assessments throughout this course will continuously monitor your progress; these could include practicals, essays, worksheets or presentations.
Your Tutor will be on hand to support you throughout your course to develop your skills, prepare you for your next steps and help you to achieve your goals.
Your Study Programme includes valuable additions to help you succeed! Personal Professional Development sessions (PPD) will teach you valuable skills that employers are looking for including communication, time management and life skills that you can take with you anywhere you go! You will have a regular 1:1 appointment with highly qualified and experienced professionals who will help you to manage your workload, give you valuable feedback and ensure that you meet College expectations. English & Maths: You may not be sure whether these subjects are relevant to you, but good English and Maths skills will be vital to any career path and were here to support you in developing yours. Work Experience is crucial to preparing you for your next steps and here you will have access to a wide range of employers to make sure you gain plenty of workplace experience. Careers Advice & Guidance is available throughout your time at CBC from our friendly, dedicated Advisors. Each year of the Level 3 qualification is the equivalent of 1.5 A-Levels.
