Course Overview

The Award in Education and Training is an initial qualification for people with little or no previous teaching experience and will support you to develop the skills and confidence you need to teach and train in the post-compulsory sector. This course is a great choice if you would like to teach or train in the post-compulsory sector (e.g. further education, adult education, higher education, workplace training).

Areas of study could include: • Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training • Facilitate Learning and Development for Individuals • Facilitate Learning and Development in Groups • Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training

• 3 Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment

You will be assessed throughout the course, with no final examination. You will present a portfolio of assignments covering the topics of the course, including feedback and reflection on a micro-teaching session to your colleagues on the course. The tutor will help you to monitor your progress and set targets for improvement throughout the course. Your Tutor will be on hand to support you throughout your course to develop your skills, prepare you for your next steps and help you to achieve your goals.

Courses begin in October and February. The course is taught Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning across 16 3-hour sessions. There will be taught sessions, group working and research and workshops. Micro-teach sessions will give you the chance to practise your skills.
