Entry Requirements
We will consider you as an individual and take into account all elements of your application, not just your qualifications. We are looking for breadth and depth in your current studies and enthusiasm for the subject you wish to study. UCAS introduced a new tariff for courses from September 2017. This means the points you will be asked for are different to previous years but the grades you receive have not changed. At least 80 points with 64 points from 2 A level passes at C or above. At least 80 points with 64 from Merit Merit in two BTEC Subsidiary Diplomas or one BTEC Diploma. At least 80 points with Merit Merit Pass in the BTEC Extended Diploma. A completed Access to Higher Education Diploma Equivalent qualifications such as Irish Leaving Certificate, OCR Nationals, International Baccalaureate and CACHE Level 3 awards.

Course Overview

This is a full professional qualification for those who already have a full BA (Hons) or BSc qualification. This award qualifies you to teach in post-compulsory education. The course is designed to enable you to develop your skills, confidence and theoretical knowledge in education and training. This course is franchised and awarded by the University of Bedfordshire and provides you with an advanced knowledge of the Education sector.

Your areas of study could include but are not limited to: • Teaching Experience Portfolio • Curriculum Development and Evaluation • Issues in Post Compulsory Education and Training • Action Research • Coaching and Support

The course is taught on Mondays (first year) and Fridays (second year.) There will be lectures, discussions, supported research, support group working and reflection. You will use the college’s virtual learning environment and the University of Bedfordshire’s, and will have access to all the facilities of both organisations. The assessments are closely aligned to the course learning outcomes and can include written assignments, presentations, research projects and reflective journals.

Your Tutor will be on hand to support you throughout your course to develop your skills, prepare you for your next steps and help you to achieve your goals.

What options are there after completing this course?

Upon completing your course, you have a great range of options available to help you continue your adventure. • Upon successful completion of this course you will have enhanced your knowledge of education to help develop your career or move into a teaching-related role within post-compulsory education. You can undertake a process of Professional Formation after achieving the Award which will qualify you to teach in schools as well. You will gain HE credits at levels 5 & 6.
