Studying the Level 1 vocational diploma course will support you to gain core practical and transferable skills. It will also enable you to gain an insight into the work sector of your choice before progressing into higher studies. The programme will help you understand the key elements of working in both the Business and ICT sectors and help you develop your career development goals.

Course Overview

You will study a core programme of career development and self-assessment of skills along with, tutorial, enrichment, English and Mathematics. You will get an opportunity to study specialist units in both Business and ICT which will help you decide your future career path. This course is delivered in a way that brings together academic, practical, and technical skills. You will complete tasks under supervision with the expectation to progress to completing higher level tasks with independence and confidence. Study Methods

We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability. This course will be taught through demonstrations, whole group teaching, discussions, practical workshops, various classroom activities involving group and pair work, educational trips, and guest speakers. You will study the following core units: • Being organised
• Developing a progression plan • Working with others • Researching a topic The Business and ICT units may include: • Developing digital information using IT • Using digital communication technologies • Creating a spreadsheet to solve problems • Organising a meeting • Branding a product • Presenting a business idea • Contribute to running an event

How is the course assessed?

The course is 100% coursework. You will be assessed for all units through various tasks, and written/practical assignments. When completed you will achieve a BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in Vocational Studies along with relevant Maths and English, and possible other relevant qualifications to enhance your skill set

What options are there after completing this course?

Upon completing this course, you have a range of options available to you. You can progress onto: Level 2 Information Creative Technology (IT) Level 2 Diploma in ICT Systems Support Level 2 in Business Studies You could also look to undertake an Apprenticeship, or continue your studies in a different subject at CBC e.g. digital media, or health and social care
