How to apply to college

You've decided that you want to make the jump and attend college? Congratulations! It’s a very exciting time – just remember that there's still some hard work ahead of you. The first step is your application. This article will be your guide to the whole application process so you’ll know exactly what to expect.

Find your course

Some people know exactly what they want to study. If that’s you, then this part is an easy task. However, many people find it a more difficult task. With so many different courses available and each one requiring slightly different entry requirements, course modules or progression routes, having some pointers might just be what you need.

As a starting point, we recommend thinking about what you enjoy or what you're good at and then going from there. At this stage, you’ll be trying to narrow it down to one of our course areas. You could even use our handy course explorer to help. If you’re still stuck or finding it really challenging then our friendly Careers team are on hand to offer free, and impartial, information. Once you’ve found the area you’re interested in, read through all the different courses to find the right one for you. Once you’ve found it, make a note of the name and you’re ready to apply.

Apply

So you've decided on what you want to study. The next step is your application. Our whole application process is now online, so it couldn't be easier. You'll need all your details to hand, including previous qualifications, before getting started. On the individual course page, just hit ‘Apply’ and you'll be ready to start your application. Should you have any concerns at any point, just speak to one of our team - our online live chat is a great place to start.

Your interview

Some courses at Central Bedfordshire College require an interview, but some don't. Once you've submitted your application, our team will get in touch to let you know. Our interviews are carried out by our experienced team in a supportive environment – so there's no need to be nervous! But if you are feeling apprehensive, take a look at our handy tips for dealing with any interview anxiety you may be feeling.

Enrolment

You've found your course, you've applied and you've had your interview – you're almost there. The last step is enrolment. It's at this point you'll officially become a CBC superstar. We'll enrol you onto our systems and you'll receive your student ID and your timetable. That's it - you're now part of our team.

Day 1

On day one, you'll be greeted by our friendly team and start your journey with us. You'll receive all the information you need on how to use our systems as well as covering things such as what help is available and how to make the most of your time at the college.
